SYMPHONY TURK

The composer of this album, Tuluyhan Ugurlu’s extraordinary ability for music was revealed at age four. At age seven he was signified as the “genius child of music”. Later, the government sent him to Vienna Music Academy with a special scholarship. These amazing courses lead him to be one of the leading composers and pianists of Turkey.

“Symphony Turk” is one of the most important and successful synthesis of classical western music and classical eastern music that have been created until now.  Ugurlu was inspired by the words of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, whose main goal was to create such a synthesis between the young Turkish Republic & the western world.

Tuluyhan Ugurlu dedicated this album to the composer of the Turkish anthem “Zeki Ungor” and “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart” who is known for his Turkish hospitality.

In this gorgeous album, “Cemal Resit Rey Symphony Orchestra”, “Mehter Takimi” which is known as the first military band in the world “Mehter Takimi” and various Turkish classical music instruments (baglama, rebab, bendir, reed flute and classical lute) are used altogether. Tuluyhan Ugurlu is playing the piano himself.
